AIRBOSS TYRES FACE THEIR TOUGHEST CHALLENGE YET…AS THEY ARE ROAD-TESTED BY EIGHT-YEAR-OLDS!
AirBoss, manufacturer of the segmented tyre system, is putting its tyres through the ultimate test...at the Diggerland theme park in Kent!
The company has been collaborating with JCB-inspired theme park, Diggerland, to replace its pneumatic tyres with AirBoss segmented tyres. The trial, which began in June, has delivered extremely positive results and led to significant cost savings for the Kent-based park.
The tyres have been fitted to the ‘JCB Robot’ ride, a skid steer vehicle, controlled via joysticks. The control system places the tyres under extreme pressure and provides a thorough test of performance and durability.
Reports, produced by Diggerland, have shown that since fitting the AirBoss tyre system punctures and ‘down-time’ have been virtually eliminated, with a 100% reduction reported in the first two months of the trial. During the same period, standard pneumatic tyres have produced numerous punctures, leading to downtime, replacement tyre costs and lost revenue.
Diggerland Kent’s general manager, Andy Garrott comments, “I’ve been extremely impressed with the reliability of the AirBoss tyre system. Our machines create extreme strain on and we’ve found that conventional tyres just aren’t up to the job, meaning we’re constantly taking rides out of action to replace tyres. AirBoss tyres mean that’s no longer a problem, plus if and when the segments need to be repaired it can be done in minutes. I look forward to a long and rewarding relationship between AirBoss and Diggerland.”
AirBoss recently exhibited at the SED show furnishing their stand using, what else, but a Diggerland skid steer! The event was a success with the Cheltenham-based company attracting interest from all major equipment manufacturers, including JCB, Cat and Komatsu.

With an ever-growing number of mobile equipment users, the system is used across a wide range of applications that includes construction, demolition, waste management, foundries and agriculture. In fact, AirBoss tyres can operate in almost any working environment where hostile conditions cause punctures, tyre damage or excessive wear. It is for this reason that vehicles with AirBoss tyres were the only vehicles able to help in the construction of the channel tunnel.
